Barebones Studio was born out of a lifelong love of fabrics, sewing and art.

After completing a Diploma in Visual Arts/Surface Design at the School of Colour and Design in Sydney, a studio was set up in 2007 to explore screen printing and painting.

An interest in Japanese design and the beautiful simplicity that can be achieved by paring back design to its most basic form has influenced the Barebones aesthetic.

Each scarf is handmade and individually hand dyed, hand painted or screen printed or a combination of these techniques.  The base fabrics are silks or cottons.  Only water-based inks are used in their production.

Last year Barebones Studio had the honour of showcasing scarves at the Artisans in the Botanic Gardens exhibition in the Lion Gate Lodge and they are also stocked at the Hazelhurst Regional Art Centre and Gallery in Gymea and at Ruth Tate in Queen Street, Woollahra.

Homewares and children’s clothing are also made using original designs, screen printed or handpainted, once again using natural base fabrics.

A range of simple elegant women’s clothing is also available made individually in the studio.
